BIO

Sia Kurz, born in 2004 in Limassol, Cyprus, is a contemporary artist residing and working Nicosia, Cyprus. While she is undergoing her Fine Arts studies at the University of Nicosia, she actively makes an effort to convey her art and message to the wider public. She had her first solo exhibition, ‘Layers of My Home’, at Coffeehouse (Nicosia), in December 2023. Her second solo exhibition, ‘What am I but a Fragment?’, took place at OPU House (Nicosia), in August 2024.

In her artistic practice, Kurz deals with childhood memories, domesticity, and traditions of Cyprus. As the artist was born in Cyprus and has lived her 20 years on the island, she feels detached from her other motherland - Russia. Despite the multicultural lifestyle, Kurz poses herself as a “fragment” of Cyprus, a place she considers her homeland, and reflects on her life on the island.

A reality built upon dream-like combinations of the mundane and treasured traditional elements - Kurz’s works display a strong conceptual foundation. Through contemporary art media such as painting, photography, collage, digital art and writing, Kurz blends her memories, identity and multiculturalism.
